Terry Scott For Benicia City Council PAC Money
My thoughts on Working Families for a Strong Benicia PAC money.
I was hoping that I would not have to write this post. I was hoping that the folks behind this PAC, which is in large part funded by Valero Benicia Refinery, would have decided to not interfere in our election.
I had hoped that they would allow Benicians to vote for Benicians without outside interests investing hundreds of thousands of dollars into this election.
I had hoped that this PAC would have accepted the voluntary city pledge to not resort to negative attack ads.
But they haven’t. In just three days they have unleashed a flurry of Facebook ads that in my opinion are inflammatory, negative and stretch the truth to a misrepresentation of the truth.
I condemn the interference by the PAC. I expect the candidates who benefit from the PAC attacks to condemn the ads at the very least.
YES, the Supreme Court has given PAC’s the right to support candidates that support their interests. It is legal. But just because it is legal does not make it morally right.
